Three Police Officers Killed by Gunmen in Kogi State, Tactical Team Deployed

Tragedy struck in Kogi State as three police officers were killed by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday at a checkpoint in Egbe, a border community between Kogi and Kwara States.

The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the incident through its Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya. Speaking to Arise News, Aya disclosed that the attack was sudden and carried out by yet-to-be-identified assailants.

In response to the killings, the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, CP Miller Dantawaye, has swiftly deployed a tactical police team to the area. The operation is aimed at tracking down and apprehending the perpetrators of the deadly attack.

“The Commissioner has ordered an immediate tactical response, and efforts are ongoing to ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are brought to justice,” Aya stated.

The police also assured the public that investigations are underway and that security has been reinforced in the area to prevent further attacks and maintain public safety.

The incident has raised concerns about rising insecurity along border communities and the growing threat posed by armed groups targeting security personnel in Nigeria. Authorities are urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies as the search for the suspects intensifies.

This development underscores the need for continuous security surveillance and collaboration between neighboring states to combat crime and ensure the safety of both security forces and civilians.
