First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Launches Renewed Hope Initiative in Kogi, Empowers 500 Women with ₦50,000 Grants
Lokoja, Kogi State – September 12, 2025 – Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has brought the federal government’s economic empowerment drive to Kogi State with the launch of the Renewed Hope Initiative, a flagship program designed to uplift women through direct financial support for small-scale enterprises.
As part of the initiative’s roll-out in Kogi, 500 women received ₦50,000 each to boost their small businesses, improve household income, and foster grassroots economic development. The disbursement was made during a well-attended ceremony in Lokoja, where beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the much-needed financial intervention.
Driving Economic Inclusion Through Grassroots Support
Speaking at the event, the First Lady emphasized that the Renewed Hope Initiative is not just a welfare scheme but a strategic empowerment program aimed at creating long-term economic impact across communities.
“This initiative is about giving women the tools they need to become self-reliant, support their families, and contribute meaningfully to the national economy,” Senator Tinubu stated.
She noted that empowering women at the grassroots level remains central to the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration, with a focus on reducing poverty, promoting inclusive growth, and strengthening Nigeria’s microeconomic foundation.
Beneficiaries Poised for Transformation
The 500 selected women, drawn from various local governments in Kogi State, represent a diverse group of small-scale entrepreneurs — including traders, artisans, and local service providers. Many shared stories of how the grant would enable them to restock their businesses, purchase tools, and expand their operations.
State Government Commends the Initiative
Governor Yahaya Bello, represented at the event, applauded the First Lady’s commitment to grassroots development and pledged the state’s continued support for programs that empower women and vulnerable groups.
He noted that such initiatives are critical in tackling unemployment, boosting productivity, and creating wealth in rural and semi-urban communities.
Looking Ahead
The Renewed Hope Initiative has already made stops in several states across the country, and the First Lady reaffirmed her plan to reach every state, ensuring that no woman is left behind in the administration’s drive for inclusive economic growth.
With its emphasis on empowerment, accountability, and sustainability, the initiative continues to resonate as a symbol of hope, resilience, and opportunity for Nigerian women.
