The Lagos State Police Command has launched an official investigation into a viral video allegedly showing students of Excel College, Ejigbo, engaging in smoking, drinking, and dancing inside what appears to be a school hostel.
The disturbing footage, which surfaced on social media earlier this week, has sparked widespread public concern over youth behavior, school discipline, and student welfare. In response, the police have confirmed that a full inquiry is now underway to verify the authenticity of the video and identify those involved.
According to police spokespersons, the investigation will be conducted in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Education and other relevant authorities to ensure a comprehensive review of the incident.
“This matter is being taken very seriously. We are committed to upholding the safety and moral standards of students across Lagos,” the Command stated.
Meanwhile, the management of Excel College, Ejigbo, is expected to issue an official statement, as the video continues to generate outrage among parents, educators, and community leaders.
Education stakeholders have called for increased supervision in both public and private schools, as well as renewed focus on student counseling, mentorship, and moral education.
The incident highlights the ongoing need for collective efforts between schools, parents, and government agencies to safeguard the well-being and future of Nigerian students.
