BREAKING: Federal Government Disburses N330 Billion in Cash Transfers to Poor Nigerians — Finance Minister Wale Edun

In a major push to alleviate poverty and cushion the effects of economic reforms, the Federal Government of Nigeria has disbursed a total of N330 billion in cash transfers to vulnerable citizens across the country.

This was confirmed by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, who stated that the payments are part of the government’s ongoing social intervention efforts aimed at supporting poor and low-income Nigerians.

According to Edun, the cash transfers are a core component of the administration’s strategy to provide direct economic relief to millions of households impacted by inflation, subsidy removal, and other fiscal adjustments. The minister emphasized that the disbursement reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and social protection.

“These cash transfers are reaching the people who need them the most. It’s part of our plan to create a more resilient and equitable economy,” Edun noted.

The initiative is being implemented under the National Social Safety Nets Programme (NASSP) and coordinated through verified data from the National Social Register, ensuring transparency and accountability in the distribution process.

Analysts have welcomed the move as a step in the right direction, particularly at a time when many Nigerians are facing increased living costs. The programme is expected to continue in phases, with a focus on deepening its impact nationwide.
