The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has announced that it will be conducting a routine emergency drill today, September 18, near the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
Residents and commuters in the area are advised to remain calm as the exercise is part of standard security preparedness measures. According to the ONSA, the drill is designed to test and enhance the country’s emergency response systems, ensuring readiness in the event of real-life security or disaster scenarios.
The public is also advised to anticipate traffic diversions and increased presence of security personnel around the vicinity of the conference centre during the exercise. Authorities have assured citizens that there is no cause for alarm and that the activity is purely preventive and procedural.
Such drills are a common practice in many capital cities around the world, aimed at strengthening national security frameworks and ensuring inter-agency coordination during emergencies.
Residents and motorists are encouraged to plan alternative routes and cooperate with officials on the ground to ensure the smooth conduct of the operation.
