Nigerian sprint queen Tobi Amusan has once again proven her place among the world’s elite hurdlers, clinching the silver medal in the women’s 100m hurdles final at the Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships.

Amusan, the reigning African champion and former world record holder, delivered a phenomenal performance, finishing with a season-best time of 12.29 seconds, just fractions behind the gold medalist in a fiercely contested final.

This silver medal marks yet another major milestone in Amusan’s decorated career, further solidifying her status as Nigeria’s most successful sprint hurdler of all time. The race, held at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium, was one of the most anticipated events of the championships — and Amusan did not disappoint.

“I gave it everything I had today,” Amusan said in her post-race interview. “I’m proud to stand on the podium for Nigeria. The competition was tough, but I’m grateful for this result and for the support of my fans and country.”

The silver adds to Amusan’s impressive collection of international medals, including her historic gold at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene and multiple African and Commonwealth titles. Her remarkable consistency continues to inspire a new generation of athletes across Africa.

Amusan’s performance also serves as a major boost for Team Nigeria, whose athletes are making significant strides in track and field on the global stage.

With the Paris 2026 Olympics now on the horizon, all eyes will remain on Tobi Amusan as she continues her quest for more records and podium finishes.
