President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending about four weeks in Europe on a working vacation.
The President arrived in Lagos from Paris, France, aboard the Nigerian Air Force One on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
The presidential aircraft landed at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 6:22pm, according to Channels Television.
Tinubu had departed Abuja on August 30 for London, where he spent about a week before proceeding to Paris.
During his stay in France, the President held engagements with French President Emmanuel Macron and other business leaders. The Presidency had described the trip as a working vacation and said Tinubu remained in contact with developments in Nigeria while away.
The Presidency also disclosed that Tinubu chose to return through Lagos, where he is expected to attend official engagements and activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
According to a statement from the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu is expected to attend the premiere of a movie honouring the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, on October 1.
The President is also expected to hold meetings with political leaders and associates during his stay in Lagos before eventually returning to Abuja.
The Federal Government has scheduled activities for Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, with President Tinubu expected to deliver a nationwide broadcast to Nigerians on October 1.
The President’s return brings to an end his extended stay outside the country, which was initially announced as a three-week working vacation before the Presidency later confirmed an extension by several days.
Media reports from the airport said journalists were restricted from taking visuals of the President’s arrival as the presidential aircraft moved into the terminal.
