Bystanders allegedly stole a mobile phone belonging to world-renowned boxer Anthony Joshua following his recent road accident, according to a member of his family.
Anthony Joshua’s uncle disclosed the incident while speaking on the circumstances surrounding the accident, revealing that amid the confusion and efforts to assist the boxer, some individuals took advantage of the situation to steal his phone.
According to him, the incident occurred shortly after the accident, as people gathered around the scene. While there was no immediate confirmation of the identity of those involved, the family expressed disappointment that such an act could take place during a moment that required compassion and support.
“It was shocking and painful,” Joshua’s uncle was quoted as saying. “Instead of helping, some people chose to steal his phone at the scene of the accident.”
He, however, confirmed that Anthony Joshua did not sustain life-threatening injuries and is receiving appropriate care. The family thanked those who genuinely assisted and showed concern, while condemning the actions of individuals who exploited the situation.
The development has sparked reactions online, with many fans and observers condemning the alleged theft and calling for greater public responsibility during emergencies. Some have also urged authorities to investigate the incident, noting that theft at accident scenes is a growing concern.
As of the time of this report, neither Anthony Joshua nor his management team has issued an official statement on the alleged theft. Further details are expected to emerge as investigations continue.
