Security Operatives Foil Attempted Attack on Ogbomosho Transmission Substation in Oyo

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has confirmed that security operatives successfully repelled armed men who allegedly attempted to invade the Ogbomosho transmission substation in Oyo State.

According to the company, the incident occurred at the transmission facility located in Ogbomosho, where suspected armed attackers reportedly tried to gain unauthorized access to the substation premises.

TCN disclosed that security personnel stationed at the facility responded swiftly to the threat, preventing the attackers from breaching the installation.

The company stated that the prompt intervention of the operatives helped avert possible damage to critical national power infrastructure and ensured continued electricity transmission operations in the area.

Although details regarding casualties or arrests were not immediately disclosed, TCN said the situation had been brought under control and normal operations at the substation remained unaffected.

The company also commended the vigilance and professionalism of the security personnel involved in the operation.

Power transmission substations are considered critical national assets because they play a major role in the evacuation and distribution of electricity across the national grid.

In recent years, several transmission installations across Nigeria have faced threats ranging from vandalism and cable theft to attacks by criminal groups, leading to disruptions in electricity supply in some parts of the country.

The latest attempted invasion has again raised concerns over the security of strategic infrastructure within Nigeria’s power sector.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities around power installations to security agencies.

Further details are expected from authorities as investigations continue.
